DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 25, 2013) – Police said a girl and her brother had drowned in a river in Dipolog City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte.

It said the girl, Karla Yuson, 8, tried to save her five-year old brother Carlo, who fell into the Dipolog River while trying to relieve. But both sister and brother drowned.

Policemen, who were told about the accident, rushed to the river and recovered the duo and rushed them to the hospital in an effort to try to revive them. But doctors said the victims were already dead when they arrived in the hospital.

It was unknown whether the parents of the children were aware the duo went to the river. (Mindanao Examiner)
