94 opisyal sa Kidapawan dispersal, kinasuhan!

DAVAO CITY – Umabot sa 94 ang bilang ng kasong isinampa sa Ombudsman ngayon araw ng mga magsasakang nag-barikada sa Kidapawan City sa North Cotabato laban sa mga sundalo at parak, at opisyal ng pamahalaan doon.

Sinabi ni Gerry Alborme, ang spokesman ng Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) sa North Cotabato, na may kaugnayan sa madugong dispersal operation ng pulisya ang naturang mga kaso at kabilang dito ang reklamong grave human rights violations, murder, frustrated,  attempted murder, torture at physical injuries, illegal arrest and detention, at iba pang paglabag sa civil at political rights ng mga magsasaka.

Tatlong magsasaka ang nasawi sa dispersal matapos silang pagbabarilin ng mga parak, at pinalabas pa ng pulisya na mismong mga raleyista ang siyang namaril sa mga biktima, at binansagan pa ang isa sa mga nasawi na rebeldeng New People’s Army.

Suportado ang mga magsasaka ng mga human rights lawyers mula sa Union of Peoples’ Lawyers in Mindanao, National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers at Public Interest Law Center (PILC), gayun rin ng paralegal mula Karapatan at Children’s Rehabilitation Center.

Kabilang sa mga sinampahan ng kaso ay sina Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Sarmiento, Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, North Cotabato officials Gov. Emmylou Mendoza at Kidapawan Mayor Joseph Evangelista, at PNP officials na sina Director General Ricardo Marquez kasama ang mga regional at provincial police officers, 39th Infantry Battalion Commander na si Lt. Col. Arnold Argamosa, at 78 iba pang mga local government, police at military officials.

Wala naman pahayag ang mga sinampahan ng kaso. (Mindanao Examiner)
