
DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 22, 2012) – The Philippine Army’s 701st Infantry Brigade celebrated its 4th“reactivation” anniversary and troops vowed to continue peace and development efforts in Mindanao.
With the theme “Mamamayan at Sundalo, Magkabalikat Tungo Sa Kapayapaan At Kaunlaran,” the celebration was attended by Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon, 10th Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Ariel Bernardo and 7th Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Arnolfo Atendido, and other civilian and military guests.
The 701stInfantry Brigade was founded on July 16, 1988 and had been transferred to Mindanao and renamed as 404th Infantry Brigade on January 16, 2004. It was reactivated on September 15, 2008 and redeployed to Mati City on October 2, 2010.
With just two years in the province, the 701st Infantry Brigade has developed a strong partnership with the local government and its agencies, nongovernmental and people’s organizations and other stakeholders in support to the peace and stability programs of the Davao Oriental.
The anniversary was highlighted with the awarding of plaques of appreciation to various organizations and individuals who provided invaluable support to the army in its quest for peace and development and humanitarian activities.
