ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 10, 2012) – Policemen killed a notorious gun-for-hire in a fire fight in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, officials said Monday.
Officials said Herbert Villanueva was shot dead following a running gun battle in the coastal village of Mampang.
Before he was killed, Villanueva managed to shoot one officer, but the policeman’s body armor stopped the bullet from penetrating the thick Kevlar vest.
Officials said Villanueva was involved in many killings in Zamboanga City and among his victims were jeepney driver and civilians. (Mindanao Examiner)
