
KIDAPAWAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 4, 2012) – A radio broadcaster who was reported missing since last month in Maguindanao province in the southern Philippines had been found dead, the media watchdog National Union of Journalists of the Philippine reported on Tuesday.
It said the body of Eddie Jesus Apostol, who had a block time program on radio station dxND in Kidapawan City, was recovered over the weekend in Liguasan Marsh near the town of Sultan sa Barongis.
The local NUJP chapter quoted a military spokesman, Col. Prudencio Asto, as saying that
Apostol had gunshot wounds in the head and that both of his hands were bound behind his back. A press card was also recovered in the area.
The motive and the mastermind in the killing of Apostol, who was also a treasure hunter, is still unknown, but he was last seen with an unidentified man near the Datu Piang town on August 20.
