ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – A man was killed after he bravely stopped two bandits from extorting money in his village in the town of Labason in Zamboanga del Norte, police said Monday.
Police said Aldam Jimlani, 48, was shot dead by bandit leader Omar Arasi alias Sapii in the village of Balas over the weekend.
Villagers said Jimlani stopped two armed bandits – one of them was identified only by his first name as Elmer – from collecting money among coconut farmers in Balas. The two armed men immediately left the village only to return later with their leader and then shot Jimlani.
The assailants fled after the shooting and warned villagers not to report the killing to the authorities. Villagers rushed Jimlani to the hospital, but he died along the way. (Mindanao Examiner)
