COTABATO CITY — Police officials in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) project a largely improved peace and order condition and durable security in the future Bangsamoro region with the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).
The CAB, the final peace deal between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), will be signed in Malacanang on March 27 with more than 1,000 local stakeholders and foreign dignitaries invited to grace the historic occasion.
Chief Supt. Noel Delos Reyes, Police Regional Office (PRO) ARMM director, lauded the GPH and MILF peace panels for the successful conclusion of the peace negotiations that took 17 years to complete.
“We at the PRO-ARMM has been very supportive of the CAB between the GPH and the MILF, whose sole purpose is to bring peace and development for the Bangsamoro homeland and its people,” he said.
Chief Supt. Robert Kiunisala, PRO-ARMM deputy director for administration, noted the CAB signing marks a new era for peace as the final peace deal seeks to put an end to the war waged by the MILF.
“We are resolute that the successful implementation of this agreement would improve the security, stability and development of the Bangsamoro people. With that, we are pretty sure that the decades-old conflict in Mindanao will be finally concluded,” he said.
In the rundown to the CAB signing and as part of their consultation, GPH chief negotiator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer recently briefed the PRO ARMM officials on the contents of the final peace deal.
The CAB brings together the agreements signed by the GPH and the MILF, key among them are the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro and its four Annexes on Transitional Arrangements and Modalities, Revenue Generation and Wealth Sharing, Power Sharing and Normalization, and the Addendum on Bangsamoro Waters.
