COTABATO CITY – Bangsamoro Director-General Danilo Ong of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) underscored Nov. 5 that the Ministry will sustain public trust and accountability, following the Commission on Audit’s (COA) announcement confirming “no ghost projects” for the MPW.
He shared this in an exclusive interview on Nov. 4, highlighting the latest achievements of the interim government through their office, as declared during the Regionwide Audit Entrance Conference in Davao City.
“To the Bangsamoro, rest assured that we will continue to raise the level of our service. We are not just building infrastructure; we are also building trust, discipline, and unity,” he said.
Ong noted that the recent milestone of the MPW in constructing legitimate projects serves as a “reminder” of public servants’ commitment to public service.
“This event is an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and the Commission in advocating for good governance and public accountability,” he continued.
Since 2020, the MPW has completed 3,781 projects-53 percent of its total targets-with 2,054 still underway as of September 2025.
These projects include road networks, bridges, drainage and flood control systems, dormitories, water systems, ports, a heritage building, shore and slope protection projects, isolation facilities, and other infrastructure. They were funded under the Regular Infrastructure Program (RIP), the Special Development Fund (SDF), the Supplemental Fund (SF), and the Contingent Fund (CF).

Factors in Project Implementation
Ong mentioned that Minister Architect Edward Guerra emphasized faithful monitoring of projects across the Bangsamoro region.
“We continue quality assurance, field validation, and monitoring activities to ensure that every project is strong, well-executed, and beneficial to the public,” he stated.
The Director-General also shared that the MPW immediately addresses implementation challenges, such as right-of-way concerns, peace and order issues, and natural calamities. He reassured the public that the Ministry remains committed to addressing these concerns diligently.
From Nov. 4 to 6, the office conducted its Ministry Performance Assessment Conference (MPAC) to strategically plan and expedite the implementation of its infrastructure projects.
Projects’ Impact on the Bangsamoro
The public official emphasized that the projects have brought tangible benefits to the Bangsamoro, including improved road access, enhanced education, and expanded economic opportunities.
“This is now the outcome of our project-we do not only connect barangays; we connect people,” he highlighted.
Expediting all transportation and strategic infrastructure projects of the Bangsamoro Government aligns with Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua’s fifth priority agenda of the Government of the Day. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
