DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 15, 2013) – A total of 210 micro, small and medium enterprises in Zamboanga Peninsula participated in the recently launched SME roving academy or SMERA project spearheaded by the Department of Trade Industry.
Regional trade director Nazrullah Manzur, who led the SMERA launching ceremonies in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte province, said two trainings and seminars – Accounting Made Easy for Non-Accountants and Marketing Eco-Tourism – were held here.
Two other trainings – Quality and Productivity Management in Abaca Production and Processing – were also conducted in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur and in Ipil town in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Manzur said the SMERA project aims to develop and grow more SMEs and its training courses and other services like product development and on-site, one-on-one consultation with other agencies are offered free of charge.
The first phase of the roving academy this year was successful because of the support of its partner agencies in the SME Core Group, the Bureau of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Philippine Trade Training Center, and others from the private sector
“We are confident that the second phase of the trainings in August and September will be just as successful. We call on those who want to go into rubber or those interested in visual merchandizing to make your reservations now with the DTI offices in Zamboanga City, Isabela City, or Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay.
