PAF pilots bihasa na sa night flying!

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 26, 2012) – Patuloy ang pagsasanay ng mga helicopter pilot ng Philippine Air Force sa Zamboanga City sa kanilang night time flying gamit lamang ang night vision goggle.

Mismong ang Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines ng US military ang siyang nasa likod ng pagsasanay ng mga piloto sa paglipad ng mga helicopters at eroplano sa gabi bilang bahagi ng “Balikatan” exercises.

Ang Balikatan rin ang ginagamit na dahilan ng mga Kano upang mapanatili ang kanilang daan-daang puwersa sa Mindanao mula pa nuong 2001.

Inamin naman ni Army Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang, ang tagapagsalita ng Western Mindanao, ang mga pagsasanay ng Philippine Air Force sa gabi. “Nagsasanay sila at bahagi na rin ng kanilang night flying capability (program) at maintenance ng mga ari crafts,” ani ng opisyal sa pahayagang Mindanao Examiner.

Malaking tulong sa mga piloto ang makapagpalipad ng helicopters at eroplano sa gabi dahil nagagamit nila ang kanilang mga natutunan sa mga medical evacuation at iba pa sa Mindanao.

Karamihan sa mga gamit na choppers ng Philippine Air Force ay mga lumang UH-1H at isang C130 cargo plane, ngunit bumili naman ang bansa ng 8 bagong PZL helicopters mula sa Poland na nagkakahalaga ng ilang bilyong piso. At bibili pa rin ng isang C130 cargo plane na nagkakahalaga naman ng halos P3 bilyon, at 6 na mga fighter jets bilang bahagi ng modernization program ng militar. (Mindanao Examiner)
