ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 1, 2013) – Gunmen shot and wounded a Muslim trader in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Thursday.

Police said the gunmen were riding tandem on a motorcycle and shot Ayub Abdulwahab, 56, who was traveling in a car in the village of Tugbungan.

The assailants fled after the shooting. Abdulwahab was rushed to hospital
The motive of the attack is still unknown, but police said Abdulwahab’s son was also killed by unidentified gunmen.

Police are investigating whether the attack on Abdulwahab was connected to the murder of his son.

Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City. Hundreds had been killed in the past years and many of the cases remain unresolved. (Mindanao Examiner)
