Why You Wouldn’t Want to Mess with Porn by Abraham V. Llera

Chief Editor September 6, 2015
NO DISEASE has struck more fear in man than leprosy.  The disease often turns the patient into a hideous creature.  And, inasmuch  as it is contagious, patients are usually forced to live far apart from other human beings, and even made to wear bells to signal their presence, so other people can keep a safe distance.
Nobody may have thought about it this way, but getting oneself messed up in porn is a worse fate than catching leprosy.
In the first place, people suffering from leprosy can get well;  people suffering from porn cannot. Porn sticks to every molecule of our bodies and to every neuron in our minds that it is impossible to get rid of it once it has established itself into our psyche.  Here are other facts about porn:
(1)  It feeds on itself.  The porn user never stays on the same level of slavery in addiction.  The porn user’s story is always the same:  the entry level is usually some innocuous FAMILY site, believe it or not.  (Such is how pernicious this porn is, it has infiltrated into everywhere on the Internet.)  Then the time will always come that the porn user  will tire of his usual fare, and will google for new ones.  Yes, he will have his favorite Web sites, but every moment in front of the screen, the porn user is on the prowl for new sites, and he will NEVER run out of choices: everyday 260  new porn sites are added, according to “Good Magazine.”
(2)  The level of titillation  never stays the same.  Neuroscience has a good explanation for this phenomenon among humans,  and you can find it here http://www.relevantmagazine.com/life/whole-life/features/29332-this-is-your-brain-on-porn.
I have another explanation for it.  It’s the Devil, nothing more, nothing less, in his usual malevolent mode,  always looking for ways to drag us with him to hell.
(3)  On our own, we  cannot free ourselves from the addiction.  In the first place, with 260 new porn sites being  added on the Internet everyday, we will NEVER run out of porn sites to feed the monster inside our hearts.  The same explanation from neuroscience above applies, but, IMO, it’s the same Devil again, who will not let us go now that he has us by the balls.
(4)  The porn industry  is a huge industry, estimated by Forbes at US$4 billion annually, and it will do its best that no one but no one escapes its clutches.
Adult video  – US$500 million to US$1.8 billion
Internet  –  US$1 billion
Pay-Per-View  –  US$128 million
Magazines  –  US$1 billion
Total  is US$2.6 billion to US$3.9 billion
Sources:  Forbes Magazine via Adams Media Research;  Forrester Research;  Veronis Suhler Communications Industry Report
(5)  In all outward appearances, we  look normal;  inside, we’re better off a leper.  This means nobody but nobody gets to know our problem unless it’s us ourselves who’d come up front to seek help.
(6)  Many of the world’s malevolent serial killers admitted porn addiction.
(7)  There are thousands of D-I-Y (Do it Yourself) sites offering advice on how to rid oneself of porn.  IMO, every one will fail to help us free ourselves of our chains.  How come?  Because all of them will tell us how to do it on our own.  IMO, this is the surefire way to fail.  Porn is something we cannot handle on our own.  We need outside help.  Not only any kind of outside help, but supernatural kind that only Christ can give.
The only way one can free himself of the slavery to porn is by begging God for help.  There is no other way.  I recommend attending Holy Mass daily, Holy Rosary, and having oneself a spiritual director, a good one, NEVER a liberal one. (abrahamvllera@yahoo.com)
