Kaketsuken also produced vaccines for animals under unapproved procedures – The Japan News

Editor December 9, 2015

Kaketsuken, a drugmaker that was found to have followed unapproved manufacturing procedures for blood products and human vaccines, also produced vaccines for farm animals and pets under unauthorized procedures, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

According to the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry, the Chemo-Sero-Therapeutic Research Institute — a Kumamoto-based general incorporated foundation commonly known as Kaketsuken — had produced vaccines for animals in an unauthorized way for more than 10 years.

The ministry plans to conduct an on-the-spot investigation on suspicion that the drugmaker again violated the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Law.(The Yomiuri Shimbun)
