ZAMBOANGA CITY – One person was killed and 2 others injured when a boiler inside a canning factory here exploded on Tuesday, police said.
Police said Zacarias Rico, 49, died instantly from the blast that left two other workers Francisco Dumagal, 39, and Mark Anthony Villaflores, 28, wounded.
Rico, according to the police, was working on the high-pressure steam generator inside the Southwest Asian Canning Corporation in the village of Talisayan when it suddenly exploded before noontime.
There was no immediate statement from company executives. But the Southwest Asian Canning Corporation, which has been established in June 2015 on a five-hectare compound, produces canned goods for leading domestic brands. (The Zamboanga Post)
