Poultry products gikan Israel ug Oregon, gi-ban sa DA

CEBU -Kasamtangang gipatuman karon sa Department of Agriculture ang import ban sa mga poultry products gikan sa Israel ug Oregon sa Estados Unidos aron dili makasulod sa nasud ang gikahadlokang avain flu outbreak gikan sa maong mga lugar.

Gimando ni Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala ang pag-ban sa mga poultry meat, day-old chicks, itlog ug semilya gikan sa Haifa sa Israel aron ma-protektahan ang mga mamamalit sa Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.

Base sa taho, nagsugod ang avian flu outbreak niadtong Enero sa Avi’el, Hadera, Haifa, Israel ug gipahibalo dayon kini sa Office of International des Epizooties o World Organization for Animal Health.

Ang Paris-based OIE usa  ka international organization nga responsable sa pag-atiman sa kahimsog sa mga gi-alimahang mananap sa tibuok kalibotan. Sa dihang nahibaw-an ang maong outbreak, gi-suspendir dayon ni Alcala ang pag-proseso sa mga produktong gikan sa Haifa.

Gipa-kumpiskar usab sa Kalihim ang mga shipments, gawas sa heat-treated products sa DA veterinary quarantine officers ug inspectors sa tanang pantalan sa nasud.

Ang H-5 avian influenza nga nikatap karon sa backyard poultry sa Benton City maoy unang gikumpirmar sa Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory sa Washington State University. Sa pagkakaron, nagpabiling avian flu free ang Pilipinas. (ECB)
