INCLEMENT WEATHER caused by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by Tropical Depression Hanna, has so far affected 17,136 families residing in Region 3 (Central Luzon) and Region4-B (Mimaropa), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.
In its 6 a.m. update signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, the number of affected families was equivalent to 68,887 persons.
Of this figure, a total of 158 families or 586 individuals are being served inside and outside six evacuation centers.
Also, a total of 13 houses were damaged, three totally and 10 partially, in Central Luzon and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan).
The NDRRMC also reported that around 487 families or 1,867 families were preemptively evacuated in Central Luzon, Mimaropa and the National Capital Region.
Around 489 areas were also flooded in Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa, Region 5 (Bicol), Region 6 (Western Visayas), and the NCR.
According to an NDRRMC update, floodwaters in 210 areas have already subsided. (By Priam Nepomuceno)
