
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 8, 2014) – Police said a government soldier was killed after his motorcycle collided head on with a car whose tire had blown out on a highway in Imelda town in Zamboanga Sibugay province in southern Philippines.
Police identified the soldier as Technical Sergeant Alger Entera, 51, and a member of the well-awarded 18th Infantry Battalion deployed in Basilan province.
Entera was travelling with a minor Archie Pegrero to Ipil town from Pagadian City when the accident occurred. Pegrero was also wounded in the collision.
The car, driven by Nolie Roble, overtook a motorcycle, when one the tires blew out and swerved on the other lane of the highway hitting Entera’s motorcycle.
Police said the car, owned by Rizalinda Hu, of Cebu City, had two passengers Restituto Roble and Louisa Roble, both 78 years old. They were unhurt from the accident.
The car’s driver surrendered to the police after the mishap and is immediately detained. (Mindanao Examiner)
