ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE – Two persons were killed after being buried alive in a landslide in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, police said Tuesday.
Police, citing reports from the Roxas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee, said the landslide occurred in the village of Panampalay on February 2.
Insp. Dahlan Samuddin, a regional police spokesman, said the cadaver of the 53-year old Rudy Tagad was recovered, but the body of Nelly Joy Del Pilar, 9, has not been found, but efforts continue to retrieve the girl.
The landslide was triggered by the continued rains the past days in the western region of Mindanao. (Mindanao Examiner)
