
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 26, 2013) – Two children were shot and wounded by gunmen who opened fire on a crowded place in Pagadian City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said on Thursday.
Police said three armed men were pursuing another man, Pakoy Glimada, and shot him, but missed and hit the children – DJ Silao, 5; and his brother Birth Kid, 4, – who were just waiting for ride with their mother at Purok Kapalaran.
The elder Silao was hit by a stray bullet in the back and exited on his stomach and is in serious condition while his brother sustained a wound in the hand. Both were rushed to the hospital.
Police said it recovered at least 6 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol in the area.
Glimada, the target of the attack, said he had a fistfight with an unidentified man who is believed behind the shooting.
Police launched an investigation into the shooting to determine the identities of the gunmen. (Mindanao Examiner)
