POLICE PERSONNEL are hunting down suspects on a motorbike who ambushed and killed a police officer and wounded another along Yapsy St. here Sunday night.
Police Officer 1 Ali Mama, 26, a resident of President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center. Injured was PO1 Jolace Ali Guiamad, 27, a resident of Datu Paglas, Maguindanao.
Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, director of Police Regional Office 12 (Socsksargen), said both police officers belonged to the Cotabato City Police Mobile Force Company under Supt. Romero Galgo Jr.
A report from Senior Supt. Michael Lebanan, city police director, said the victims were on board a motorbike and were returning to the city from Maguindanao when they were ambushed along Yapsy St., Barangay Rosary Heights 10 at about 7 p.m.
Mama failed to make it alive to the hospital while Guiamad remains under observation in the same hospital.
The motive of the attack remains unknown as police investigators are still digging deeper into the case.
At about the same time, a security guard, identified as Jhonny Quimgo, 40, was killed in another ambush at the corner of Kimpo and Sousa streets here.
His companion, Marlon Tamagos, 32, was injured and is undergoing medication in a hospital following the ambush.
