ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 9, 2013) – Two persons were killed in a fire that hit a commercial building in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines.

Zamboanga City Fire Marshall Dominador Zabala said the burned bodies were recovered during an inspection at ZamSulu Building along Veteran’s Avenue.

“Confirmed at may dalawa tayong bankay na na-recover sa loob ng building pero hindi pa natin matiyak kung sino ang mga ito, ngunit may balitang mga helpers ang dalawang biktima,” Zabala said.

The fire hit the 3rd floor of the building that houses residential units and various shops, including a bank. The building is owned by the Chua family, but none of its members spoke to the media about the fire.

Zabala said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.(Mindanao Examiner. Alvin Lardizabal)
