PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 26, 2013) – Two persons were injured when a delivery van carrying loaded with boxes of powdered overturned at dawn Saturday in the town of Tigbao in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said.
Police said the van was heading to Zamboanga City from here to deliver the cargo when the accident occurred. The driver, Bernie Fernandez, and his helper Reymar Malijum were both injured in the mishap.
It was not immediately known whether the driver fell asleep at the wheel and rolled the ten-wheeler truck on the paddy.
The van overshot the highway and rolled on the paddy, according to Senior Inspector Nurbert Velonza, of the local police force. He said police are investigating the accident to determine the cause of the accident.
“We are still getting the statement of the driver and his helper, but they are okay now,” Velonza told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
