COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 14, 2012) – A grenade attack Saturday on a gambling crowd at a town fiesta in the southern Philippines killed at least 3 people and wounded about three dozen more, officials said.
Officials said an unidentified man tossed the grenade into the crowd as they betted at cock fight in the town of Aleosan in North Cotabato province. The blast occurred at around 1.45 p.m. in the village of Lawili.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the blast and police authorities are still investigating the motive of the attack.
Just on Wednesday, a bomb planted in a commuter bus exploded in North Cotabato’s Carmen town and killing two of its passengers and wounded several more in an attack largely blamed by the police and military to the extortion group called Al-Khobar.
Most of the group’s members were rogue Muslim rebels, the military and police said. (Mindanao Examiner)
