
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 3, 2013) – Two gunmen shot dead a man and seriously wounded his companion in an attack in Pagadian City in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said Friday.
It said the gunmen shot the men – Ernesto Broñola and Simbresio Lagaras – who were drinking at a store in the village of Kawit for no apparent reason.
Broñola was killed instantly from the attack while Lagaras is still fighting for his life from a gunshot wound in the head.
The assailants escaped after the shooting. Police investigators recovered three bullet shells fired from a .45-caliber pistol from the area.
The motive of the attack is still unknown. Gun attacks and killings are not uncommon in Pagadian City and is almost a daily occurrence. Hired killers are actively operating in Pagadian, the regional center of Western Mindanao. (Mindanao Examiner)
