DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 6, 2013) – Police arrested two persons on charges of possessing illegal weapons in the town of La Libertad in Zamboanga del Norte province, officials said Monday.
Insp. Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said Lopisinio Veloso, 54, and Liberato Belbestre, 56, were detained following the confiscation of weapons in their houses.
He said Supt. Reynaldo Maclang, commander of the police’s Public Safety Company, led the searches in the houses of Veloso and Belbestre.
He said Maclang, armed with search warrants issued by Dipolog Judge Victoriano Lacaya, seized a 9mm pistol, a .38-caliber revolver an air gun and bullet casings from Veloso; and a .357 revolver, an improvised shotgun and ammunition from Belbestre.
All weapons have no pertinent gun permits, Huesca said. (Mindanao Examiner)
