2 Sayyaf rebels killed in Philippine clash, 3 Malaysians hunted by troops

Chief Editor May 9, 2015

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Troops killed 2 Abu Sayyaf rebels in a clash Friday in the restive province of Basilan in the Muslim autonomous region in southern Philippines, officials said.

Marine Capt. Ben June Cerbo said the fighting erupted in the town of Hadji Mohammad Ajul where troops had been pursuing the rebels. One of the slain rebels has been identified as Hakim Entong.

The clash in the Hadji Mohammad Ajul broke out following an earlier fighting between security forces and the Abu Sayyaf.

Soldiers also recovered two black flags similar to that of being used by ISIS and explosives in the province where authorities are hunting down at least 3 Malaysian terrorists.

No other details were made available about the Malaysians, but media reports have identified them as Mahmud bin Ahmad, Mohammad Najib and Mohammad Joraimi bin Awang Raimee – who are believed to be members of the Darul Islam Sabah. (Mindanao Examiner)
