
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 3, 2013) – A gunman was shot after he opened fire and wounded a cop who was trying to arrest in the town of San Pablo in Zamboanga del Sur province, officials said Sunday.
Officials said the gunman, Edralin Villalon, was being arrested by PO1 Marjun Anghad, 26, when he pulled a pistol and shot the cop and hitting him on the left foot. Despite his wound, Anghad managed to shoot back at his attacker and wounded him on the leg and arrested the 36-year old man.
Anghad and another cop, PO1 Marjun Cortez, responded to a report of indiscriminate shooting at Purok Quatro in the village of Pao where they spotted Villalon, a resident of Guinocolaly village in nearby Dinas town.
Officials said a .45-caliber pistol was recovered from Villalon. It was unknown whether the weapon was licensed or not or why Villaon was carrying the gun. (Mindanao Examiner
