DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 20, 2013) – Two farmers were wounded after bandits attacked them in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, police said Tuesday.
Police said Bartolome Anino, 30, and Rene Boy Elcamel, 29, were shot by bandits led by Omar Arasi in the village of Lawigan in Labason town. The two men were gathering coconut shells for charcoal when Arasi’s group attacked them.
Just in April this year, Sapii’s group also attacked a group of farmers harvesting coconuts in the same village. It was unknown whether the attacks were connected to clan war or land conflict. (Mindanao Examiner)
