ILIGAN CITY (MindanaoExaminer / Nov. 17, 2011) – More than two dozen government soldiers donated blood on Thursday to the Philippine National Red Cross in Iligan City in Mindanao as part of humanitarian program dubbed “Dugo ng sundalo alay sa mga Iligaonon,” officials said.
Officials said members of the army’s 2nd Mechanized Brigade under Colonel Aldred Limoso spearheaded the bloodletting held at the Rizal Park.
First Lieutenant Mae Cairane Budlong, the acting civil-military operations officer led the event in coordination with the local government, the PNRC and the 1002 (Lanao del Norte) Community Defense Center.
PNRC’s Marichi Hanasa said a total of 11,500cc of blood were donated by the soldiers, including a civilian, Carmela Monteza. The activity was held ahead of the brigade’s first anniversary on December 2. (Mindanao Examiner)
