BASILAN – Police killed 3 suspected guns-for-hire in a shootout in Isabela City in the southern Philippine province of Basilan, officials said Thursday.
Officials said slain men – Jerome and Daud Anjawani and Marcos – were being linked to the recent killing of a former Sumisip village chieftain Omar Asahad in the village of La Piedad in Isabela City.
Policemen were sent to arrest the three men, who were tracked down in their hideout in Lanote village, but they engaged the cops in a gun battle instead of surrendering peacefully. Two others managed to escape. (Mindanao Examiner)
