ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (Mindanao Examiner / July 5, 2013) – Three people were killed in what police said was a case of murder-suicide that occurred Friday in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said Reneboy Nadila, 41, stabbed his wife, Gladys Nadila, 26, and Ricky Suan, 28, in the village of Palinta in Kabasalan town.
He said the woman and Suan were together on a motorcycle taxi when Nadila intercepted them in the village. Nadila confronted his wife and eventually stabbed her in front of Suan, who ran to evade the woman’s husband.
Nadila pursued his wife’s reported paramour and also stabbed him dead. He then stabbed himself several times after seeing his wife dead.
Huesca said the taxi driver Romel Medrano was unhurt in the attack.
Local police investigator SPO1 Rex Subibi said love triangle was likely motive for the killings. “We are still investigating the case, but love triangle is likely the motive behind these killings,” he told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
The woman was stabbed at least 5 times while Suan succumbed to a knife wound that pierced his heart. Nadila used a hunting knife in the attack and in killing himself.
The bodies of the three were brought to Kabasalan Pathfinder Hospital for autopsy, police said. (Mindanao Examiner)
