ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three farm workers were killed in an attack in Lamitan City in the restive province of Basilan in the Muslim autonomous region, police said Saturday.

Police said the victims were on a motorcycle when attacked Friday. One of the victims was killed instantly from the shooting while the two died in the hospital. The trio had been identified as Noel Alvarez and his son Nolie, and their companion Allen Pioquinto.

The attack occurred in the village of Ubit, but police said it was unknown whether there was a witness to the shootings.

No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack and police said it is still investigating the murders. (Mindanao Examiner – Ely Dumaboc)
