PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 5, 2014) – Police on Sunday said three people were killed in separate gun attacks in Zamboanga Peninsula in southern Philippines.
It said an unidentified gunman killed Edieson Danago, 33, at Purok Makabibihag-2 in Santa Lucia District in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur province. Danago, a resident of San Mariano town in Agusan del Sur province, was temporarily residing in Pagadian.
He was shot several times in the body and died instantly from fatal wounds. Police said the gunman escaped after the shooting. It said Danago was drinking with his friends when the gunman approached him and without warning shot the victim.
Police said a 38-year old man, Rey Arguelles, was also killed by a hooded gunman while he was drinking with friends at a convenience store in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte province.
The attacker fled after the shooting. Arguelles, who was shot repeatedly, had been rushed to hospital but he died along the way.
A gunman also killed Amzani Jolmaz, 27, at Purok Siete in Recodo village in Zamboanga City. Jolmaz was killed on the spot after being shot twice in the face and body with a .45-caliber pistol, according to the police.
Witnesses told police investigators that the gunman chased Jolmaz in the village and eventually caught up with him and shot.
The motives of the three attacks remain unknown, although police said the cases are being investigated. (Mindanao Examiner)
