
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 4, 2012) – Authorities mounted a massive search for three prisoners who escaped from a police jail in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, reports said Saturday.
It said the trio escaped through the ceiling of their cell in the village of Santa Maria during a power outage late Friday.
Police identified the three prisoners as Aldrin Jailani, Oylik Taguran and Ben Asdali. The three men are facing robbery charges and illegal possession of weapon.
It was unknown why the daring escape was not immediately detected or whether there were policemen manning the jail.
Police is investigating the prison break. Officials did not say whether the station commander has been sacked or not. (Mindanao Examiner)
