ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 2, 2012) – Philippine authorities on Monday said it rescued 32 passengers of a fishing boat whose engine malfunctioned off the southern Sulu Sea.
The boat, FB Kent-Ford 2, was drifting for four days when it was spotted on January 1 and its passengers rescued safely by navy boats. Those rescued arrived in Zamboanga City and some stayed in Sulu province.
Rear Admiral Armando Guzman said the boat departed the province of Tawi-Tawi on December 28 and was heading to Zamboanga City when its engine malfunctioned.
Among those rescued were eight marine soldiers who were on a holiday break. (Mindanao Examiner)
