MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 27, 2012) – At least 6 people were killed in a storm that hit the Philippines since the deadly typhoon Bopha earlier in December, authorities said Thursday.

It said storm “Wukong” ravaged the central Philippines. The storm flooded many areas in Samar, Aklan and Iloilo provinces before weakening and now heading to the South China Sea.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration earlier warned that the storm would hit the provinces of Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Camotes Island, Dinagat Island, Siargao Island, Surigao, Masbate, Ticao Island, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros, Siquijor, Agusan del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin.

It also warned residents in mountain slopes and river banks and coastal areas to stay vigilant because of threats of landslides, flash floods and storm surges.

The Philippines has been devastated earlier this month by the typhoon Bopha which left over 1,000 people dead and hundreds more missing, mostly in the provinces of Compostela Valley and Davao. (Mindanao Examiner)
