ZAMBOANGA CITY – Four people were killed and four others wounded in separate road accidents Monday in Basilan province in the southern Philippines, police said.

Police said a wayward transit mixer hit a group of civilians in Maluso town after one of its tires blew out in Maluso town. Four people were killed and three others, including truck driver Mohammad Badidi, who works for a construction company in Basilan.

Those killed in the accident have been identified by the police as Marisa Jakaria, Angelino Alejandro, Eddie Misamis and Ading Duterte. And the wounded as Annori Tayabas and a construction foreman identified only as Awan.

An army soldier, whose identity is still unknown, was also injured after a truck ploughed through the wharf in Isabela City after losing its break. The driver, Juanito Pagasian, was also hurt in the accident. (Mindanao Examiner – Ely Dumaboc)
