
MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / June 4, 2013) – Dozens of Filipino workers trapped in the strife-torn Syria are expected to return home, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
It said the Filipinos will be met by representatives of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut in Lebanon at the Masna’a border crossing and then brought to Rafic Hariri International Airport to take a flight bound for Doha in Qatar.
They are expected to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday via Qatar Airways flight QR 646.
Upon the group’s arrival, the total number of repatriates will reach 4,305.
The DFA said it continues to appeal to all Filipinos who are still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation as the security situation in the country continues to deteriorate.
