MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – Mambajao’s emergency hotline received 551 calls from January to early May this year, reflecting continued use of the 911 system by residents and visitors for reporting emergencies and requesting assistance.
To support the continued use of the service, the local government, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Emergency 911 National Office, encouraged the public to keep using 911 for emergencies.
Only Smart and TNT subscribers could previously contact 911 directly in Mambajao. Now, Globe and TM users can access the service by dialing 911 and pressing 1 to connect to the local operations center. Smart and TNT users may continue connecting without additional prompts.
