CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Security forces arrested a senior communist rebel leader in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental province in southern Philippines, officials said Sunday.
Officials said Victoriano Dimco, whose forces operate in Bukidnon province, was captured in the village of Puerto. Dimco also tried to escape, but failed.
Dimco was linked to the spate of attacks in the province and is now under interrogation to determine whether he was on a new mission or planning an attack in Cagayan de Oro.
Officials did not say if Dimco was armed when nabbed by the policemen and soldiers. He is also facing a string of arrest warrants for various criminal charges. (Mindanao Examiner)
