“Alarming, this is how we describe, at the very least, the actions of Davao City Police Chief Sr. Supt. Vicente Danao Jr. who was caught assaulting his wife in an uploaded video, and dismissing it thereafter as a private matter. To say that we are aghast at this police officer who publicly admitted to his crime, yet tries to escape responsibility in the pretext of privacy is an understatement,” pahayag pa ni Mary Ann Sapar, ang Secretary General ng Gabriela.

“We demand that he be suspended from his post for no one is above the law. Women, as our laws mandate, “have the right to the prevention of and protection from all forms of violence and coercion against their person, their freedom, their sexuality, and their individuality. If Sr. Supt. Dano gets away with his crime, it would be a perilous precedent against women’s rights,” wika pa ni Sapar. (Mindanao Examiner)
