ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 21, 2014) – A 49-year old man, who saved a young mother from drowning in a swelling river here, was himself swept away by the rampaging waters and is feared dead, police said Friday.
Police said Reymundo Chin risked his own life after jumping into the river to save the woman from being swept away while trying to cross the Anuling River in the village of Pamucutan on Thursday.
Chin’s brother said the mother was trying to get her two children to cross the river when the water suddenly swelled and the strong current almost carried the woman who has been identified later by the police as Cris-Ann Cerna.
Police said the body of Chin, who worked at a hardware store, has not been found. (Mindanao Examiner)
