MANDAUE CITY – More than 3,000 indigent families have received their respective Member Data Record certificates from the Philippine Health Insurance and Mandaue City government.
Local government officials headed by Mayor Jonas Cortes and Philhealth Social Insurance Officer Cherry Ruiz held a ceremonial distribution of certificates to ten beneficiaries from each of the 27 villages here.
“This project initiated by the Aquino administration aims for a universal health coverage to include the poorest among the poor which the city is also complementing,” Cortes said.
Ruiz for her part said the beneficiaries identified by the Department of Social Welfare and Services under the National Housing Targeting System can now avail of free hospitalization in any government hospital and out-patient check-ups.
“Dako kaayo nako kalipay nga ang tibook pamilya maapil sa benepisyo,” said 31-year old Jessica Heyrosa, a mother of 6 children, who resides in Barangay Cambaro.
Heyrosa said she only depends on the income of her husband who is a carpenter. Tagging along her two children, Heyrosa expressed gratitude to the government officials for the lasting benefits.
