ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 14, 2014) – Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng Climaco” Salazar has allocated some P21 million for the renewal of Philhealth insurance cards of 8,857 mostly indigent beneficiaries here.
Salazar distributed the health cards Wednesday to the villages of Limpapa, Labuan and Sinubong. Just recently, she also distributed health cards in the village of Manicahan.
Other beneficiaries of the City Government-sponsored Philhealth program are village officials, including local village watchmen, members of the village intelligence network and government militias, among others.
Salazar said the program is an affirmation that villagers are given importance by the local government. The distribution of the Philhealth cards in Limpapa, Labuan and Sinubong coincided with the distribution of school bags to high school students in the said barangays. The bag distribution is a personal advocacy of Salazar.
