ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE (Mindanao Examiner / July 9, 2014) – Two masked gunmen fatally shot a businesswoman in an attack in Polanco town in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, police said on Wednesday.
Police said the 35-year old Arceli Barte was shot shortly after she arrived in front of her convenience store in downtown area late Tuesday.
“Two unidentified male suspects wearing bonnet and helmet suddenly appeared and without any apparent reason shot the victim several times hitting her in the different parts of her body,” police said.
It said the assailants escaped after the shooting. Barte was rushed to North Maternity Hospital in Dipolog City, but she died along the way.
Police recovered 5 bullet casings of .45-caliber pistol. The motive of the killing is still unknown and police said it launched an investigation into the murder. (Mindanao Examiner)
