A QUICK look at the map and one would see that Mamasapano is one of the areas near the Liguasan Marsh. Holding an estimated mineral wealth up to $ 1 trillion, Liguasan Marsh is an untapped resource that promises wealth and power to anyone who holds control over this resource. Wikileaks sources have provided confirmation that the Liguasan Marsh was under the US economic radar.
The participation of US forces in the retrieval of the dead bodies of the PNP-SAF officers, along with the reports that an American operative was killed in action during Operation Wolverine, cements the deeper involvement of US troops in the Mamasapano incident. And with this, one cannot help but ask: Has Mindanao become the next center stage of the US “war on terror”, with the past decade’s Middle East conflicts becoming mere practice grounds for greater US military operations in the Southeast Asia?
There is much historical basis to say these matters. The imperialist US has always been known to create “bogeyman enemies” or terrorist elements and sow them in countries rich in natural resources. Once they have wrought terror this becomes a justification for the US to involve itself in the hunt for these terrorists, while the deeper intention is to invade these countries and install a government, with US’ own handpicked cohorts holding the highest positions in the land. One remembers Bin Laden, leader of the Al-Qaeda network, which the CIA has called a “vital asset” during the Afghan war. The US government has funneled weapons to Al-Qaeda, which was an intelligence network providing intel for the US military. That is, until the 9/11 attacks, where US’ once close ally became global terrorists and its number 1 enemy.
Other times the US falsely reports threats to the world, like the supposed weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Reports of the lack of evidence to support the claims that Iraq was developing WMD’s were hidden from public view in order to create a reason for the US invasion and the formation of a new government, guided by US policy and interests. For what reasons would US take such drastic actions that would result to death and displacement of millions? One word: Oil.
The US war on terror is not meant to keep developing nations safe in their own backyards. It is meant to provide justification for the presence of US troops to advance imperialist steps to secure control of untapped mineral resources, all for it to accumulate more wealth in a desperate attempt to keep itself in power. Such is the logic of US-military involvement: where there are US economic interests, that is where their troops march and their war drums beat. Many of the so-called terrorists today are US-trained and up till now, US-funded.
Marwan is the Philippine Bin Laden, he is a US- terror agent trained to create destruction to make reasons for the US to prolong its military presence in the country. They are agent-provocateurs in key geographic areas.
Mindanao, with its potential wealth, is certainly in the list of countries up for the covert operations of the US in its overall plan to control key resource areas. Mamasapano may be just the first of many other operations set to commence in the country.
But we know better than having US troops in Philippine soil. The Bud Dajo massacre, Gregan Cardeno, and last year, Jennifer Laude. These are just a few names under the list of human-rights violations committed by US troops in the country, one wherein the perpetrators got away with impunity.
Will the 44 PNP-SAF officers meet the same fate? It would seem that they were pawns in an attempt to secure an area near a mineral field bearing great US interests. As such, Operation Wolverine was not intended to arrest Marwan. It was an attempt to advance US-imperialism. A rich man’s war, to put it in different terms. There was no intention of keeping the public safe from supposed terrorists that day. It was all for the oil.
Would the 44 PNP-SAF officers wanted to join the operation, had they known what they were getting into? That is doubtful. But what is clear is this: that the Mamasapano incident is the latest and clearest manifestation of the puppetry of the Aquino administration to the imperialist US. That oil can be thicker than water, that the lives of our countrymen are expendable not just in the pursuit of justice but in economic interests of foreigners as well. A huge wave of atrocities committed by US troops in the Middle East are due to fall to the Filipino people if they do not act now. As such, it is only right that the people call for an ouster.
