
BASILAN (Mindanao Examiner / June 26, 2014) – Members of a Turkish non-governmental organization have braved Basilan province in southern Philippines to distribute food packages to Muslim beneficiaries ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
German Kemal Sagdic, together with Orhan Atakhan, of Australia; and Abdulvasih Seydauglo, from Turkey of IGMC and Hasene, led the distribution of food packages in the cities of Isabela and Lamitan, and in the town of Maluso.
Sagdic said the project was part of “Ramadan Food Package Distribution” aimed at feeding poor communities and those affected by man-made and natural calamities in Basilan, one of five provinces under the Muslim autonomous region.
Hajja Napsa Jimlani, village head of Upper Holand in Maluso town, praised the foreigners for their humanitarian mission in the province. (Ely Dumaboc)
