
DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 13, 2014) – A wealthy hotel owner from Cebu province in central Philippines was shot dead in front of his horrified employees in the southern city of Davao, police said Friday.
Police said Richard King was killed by a lone gunman who barged into a building late Thursday where the businessman just finished talking with his employees. The gunman escaped on a motorcycle driven by another man who waited outside the Vital-C Building owned by King.
The motive of the killing is still unknown, but police launched an investigation to determine whether the murder was connected to King’s businesses. No individual claimed responsibility for the killing.
King has businesses in Davao and Cebu, and also in Boracay where his family owns the Crown Regency Hotel and Resort.
On Thursday, a hotel owner in Zamboanga City, Salwa Julwadi, was also shot dead by two hired killer inside the Salwa Hotel along Governor Camins Avenue. The two men, one of them was reported to be a government militia, were captured by policemen after a running gunbattle. (Mindanao Examiner)
