
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 12, 2014) – Philippine authorities arrested a 48-year German national in Dipolog City in the southern province of Zamboanga del Norte on slander charges filed by a Filipino against him.
Police said Norbert Kruger, a native of Halver town, was arrested on June 11 in the village of Anahaw where he is temporarily staying.
“The German national, who has a standing warrant of arrest for two counts of grave oral defamation, has been arrested following a manhunt operation against wanted persons in Dipolog City,” Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, a regional police spokesman, told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
He said the warrant was released by Judge Veronica Laput in Dipolog City where the charges have been filed against the foreigner, who is now detained at the local police jail.
No other details were released by the police about Kruger or whether he is married to a Filipina and it was unknown if the German Embassy was informed about his arrest. (Mindanao Examiner)
