
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 10, 2014) – A motorcycle driver was seriously injured after he hit a woman late Tuesday in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines.
The woman, Nilda Llanera, of Baliwasan village, was also injured and both have been rushed to hospital. Llanera said she was just crossing the street outside the Santa Cruz Market when hit by the motorcycle.
“I don’t know what happened. My face is numb and my whole body is aching,” Llenera told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner after regaining her consciousness.
The motorcycle driver was not immediately identified. Policemen, who rushed to the scene, said the driver was not carrying any identification cards.
Witnesses said the driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was driving fast when he hit the woman. “He was driving fast and did not even slow down,” one motorist who witnessed the accident, said.
Emergency crews arrived in two ambulances and brought the victims to the hospital.
The local police chief Angelito Casimiro was also spotted in the area manning the traffic along with other police officers. (Mindanao Examiner)
